Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph George Antoniadis, the CEO of Alpha Flying ( http://www.planesense.aero/ in Portsmouth, NH.

Alpha Flying is, in simple terms, a time share of flying – you buy in and if you need to go somewhere they guarantee a plane within 8 hours. (more…)

Inspiration

February 9, 2009

The idea of where inspiration comes from has always fascinated me. It can be a pretty esoteric, philosophical topic – or we can cut to the chase and realize that our ideas come from triggers we see, hear or feel – whether its another photographer’s work, a painting, a chord in a piece of music, a cloud in the sky. Birthday Girl

On those days when I get out of bed a little stiff or sore I wonder what it is that keeps me young. I don’t have to think about that very long – my daughter is the fountain of youth. Its hard to believe, but she turned 12 tonight. I set up a couple of small strobes and did a portrait at the moment of birth – 9:11PM. If Eliza looks a bit familiar, that’s also her on the top of the blog – spinning in the breeze along a ridge in Tuttle Swamp. (more…)

Mel

November 28, 2008

I teach some photography classes at McIntosh College in Dover, NH., and early this week we went to The Exeter Inn ( www.theexeterinn.com ) for a field trip in seeing and working with light.

Director of Sales and Marketing Tom O’Gorman had set us up with complete access to three guest rooms on different sides of the Inn so we could pick and choose the light we wanted to work with. There was this incredible light coming in through the blinds and Mel was gracious enoung to sit for a fast portrait. (more…)
