NOLA

April 10, 2009

So if you’ve ever been to Zampa ( one of the Seacoast’s great restaurants), the guy behind the bar is Cory – and the woman responsible for the incredible dishes coming out of the kitchen is his wife and partner Julie. If you haven’t been to Zampa (http:// www.zampa.com) – rectify that mistake —now! Zampa is located on Route 27 at the intersection of Route 125 in Epping, reservations – a good idea as the place becomes hugely popular – can be made by calling 679-8772. (more…)

Spring morning

April 6, 2009

Out with the dog for an early morning, see the sunrise, take the camera because who knows, walk in the fields. The sounds of waking geese singing on the pond, the squish of mud as winter slowly thaws away. No coffee just the early chill of the false dawn to pop open the eyes. Life really is good! (more…)

Julie and Nick

March 12, 2009

Today I photographed Julie and Nick Rost – Julie is about two weeks from  giving birth  to their first child – although Axel, their 4 month old puppy may well be considered their first child! Doing this photo session was probably a big leap for Dr. Nick ( he’s a remarkable chiropracter with an incredible gentle touch at Ken George and Associates of Stratham, (http://www.drkengeorge.com/healing_center.html). This ‘N That

February 26, 2009

Simply a collection of miscellaneous stuff today:

As my adjunct tenure at McIntosh College comes to a close ( for those unaware, the parent corporation is closing the school) I am so incredibly lucky to have as my final group a crew of highly motivated and talented photographers to work with. Talk about getting to go out on a high! Last night I asked one of them – Rachel Swain – to shoot a new photo of me for my soon-to-be unveiled redesigned website. (more…)

Winter – still

February 22, 2009

Took a walk today with my wife – out on  snowmobile trail so the dog could have a run and we could get some fresh air after spending most of the day in the basement trying to make some progress in the madness of the chaos.

As we walked by a frozen beaver pond she remarked that it had been a great winter – lots of snow, cold, no slush. It made me think about the complaining I’ve done this season because, you know, she is right – its been a great winter. Lots of snow, cold, no slush. (more…)

Brigid

February 16, 2009

I don’t photograph a lot of babies – no particular reason, just don’t market myself that way – but the other day I went over to tara Bishop’s. She and husband Tim just had baby Brigid and as a present I told Tara I would shoot some photos. Tara and I have worked on projects togethjer for probably 5 years now and she’s one of the best there is to work with – no pushover – she knows what she wants – but is totally open to other ideas and the term micromanage isn’t even in her vocabulary. George Antoniadis

February 11, 2009

Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph George Antoniadis, the CEO of Alpha Flying ( http://www.planesense.aero/ in Portsmouth, NH.

Alpha Flying is, in simple terms, a time share of flying – you buy in and if you need to go somewhere they guarantee a plane within 8 hours. (more…)

Inspiration

February 9, 2009

The idea of where inspiration comes from has always fascinated me. It can be a pretty esoteric, philosophical topic – or we can cut to the chase and realize that our ideas come from triggers we see, hear or feel – whether its another photographer’s work, a painting, a chord in a piece of music, a cloud in the sky. Sometimes my inspiration comes from watching a little kid’s fascination with the ordinary…a trait so many adults have lost. (more…)
